A good YouTube video needs three things. It needs to be optimized so that it gets FOUND, gets CLICKED and gets VIEWED.
First, your channel needs to be optimized so your vidies GET FOUND. If you don’t tell YouTube what your channel is about and what kind of videos you will be showing, they will never recommend your videos in search results.
Optimizing your channel means completing the “About” section to include the correct keywords for your industry or product. This lets YouTube know what your channel is about. it is a key part to YouTube optimization.
Getting your videos found is done through YouTube suggesting them or offering them as results to searches made.

You judge a YouTube video by its cover. It needs a great thumbnail.
Second, your thumbnail must stand out in order to GET CLICKED. We spend the majority of our time just creating a thumbnail that will make a person stop for a second, pique their curiosity, and get them to click. Getting their attention with a bright thumbnail is really important.
Your thumbnail should include a face with an exaggerated expression. We humand are attracted to other faces. If you can show an emotion associated with the face that is even better.
Colors are key too. You need to use colors that contrast. Find a color that stands out and then use a contrasting color for the text.
You should keep the text to NO MORE THAN 6 WORDS. Don’t write the title in your thumbnail because it won’t be able to be read. think of 6 words or less that will get the viewer to click on your video.
Third, your video should be entertaining or informing. It needs to GET VIEWED. When you create a video think of why the viewer would want to watch it. Are you helping them or entertaining them?
